About Mei Wah Chinese Restaurant

Stepping into Mei Wah Chinese Restaurant, nestled conveniently at 101 Lockemy Hwy in the charming town of Dillon, South Carolina, feels a bit like being embraced by a warm culinary hug. Diners immediately notice the aroma of sizzling vegetables and savory meats wafting through the air, a tantalizing prelude to what promises to be a delightful dining experience. Though modest in its exterior, the magic within reveals a symphony of flavors, crafted with care and authenticity.

The menu reads like a beautifully orchestrated love letter to Chinese cuisine, offering a plethora of options that range from the tried-and-true classics to innovative dishes that push the boundaries just enough to intrigue but not overwhelm. It's hard to go wrong with staples like General Tso's Chicken, which boasts a perfect balance of sweetness and heat, or the Mongolian Beef, tender strips enveloped by a rich, savory sauce with just the right hint of spice. Those feeling a touch more adventurous might gravitate towards the Salt and Pepper Squid, a dish that plays harmoniously between crispy texture and delicate seasoning. And let's not forget the vegetarian-friendly dishes that shine just as brightly; the tofu stir-fry comes particularly recommended, its execution earning nods from even the most discerning of palates.

On busier nights, there might be a wait, yet it’s a testament to the high demand for their plates of perfection. Regular visitors often note how the eatery becomes a cozy haven; somewhere to feel at home, despite the bustling world outside.

Beyond the food and atmosphere, what makes Mei Wah stand out is its heart, a genuine desire to bring people together over good food. The easy-to-reach location, being just off I-95, makes it a perfect stop for those passing through, but many find themselves returning time and again, charmed by the restaurant’s unpretentious nature and culinary prowess. Years of consistent quality have etched Mei Wah into the beloved fabric of Dillon's dining scene, and that seems unlikely to change.

Food was great. Ordered sweet and sour chicken. They served it separately so the chicken was still crispy. Would definitely recommend and return.

The ham fried rice, chicken wings are delicious. Friendly staff. The egg roll is ok. Overall, the food is superb. Love the brown rice made with eggs, onions, and ham. The best in the town, in my opinion.

The best Chinese food in Dillon County.

Wife and I had been wanting to try Mei Wah for a while and we finally both had a Saturday off together (the restaurant is closed Sundays and Mondays). We tried to open the door and it was locked. Apparently it's all just take out business from the takeout window (you can walk up to it). The employees we spoke to were both very friendly. The menu is fairly traditional for Chinese food. The vegetable fried rice was very good and it's one of the very few places I've been to in the region that uses egg in their fried rice. The lo mein was good with the perfect amount of sesame oil but the noodles were fettuccine pasta, not real lo mein noodles. The General Tso chicken was cooked well but it was more of an orange chicken than General Tso. Overall we were happy with the restaurant and will be back. It's the best Chinese food we've had in Dillon.
